When replacing clutch steel plates, inspect the friction plates, clutch springs, basket fingers and hub splines for signs of wear or heat damage. Any blueing, scoring or warping may indicate excessive clutch temperatures. For best results, replace friction plates and springs at the same time to maximise clutch performance and service life.
