When replacing steel clutch plates, inspect friction plates, clutch springs, basket fingers and hub splines for wear or heat damage. Signs of blueing, glazing or distortion indicate excessive clutch temperatures and should be addressed during servicing. For best results, replace friction plates and springs at the same time to ensure optimum clutch performance and longevity.
